Moomba Mumba

Nite is right (again...). One should not wait too long to post events and holidays least one forget the interesting bits and pieces or worse, totally forgot the event name.

I got off the wrong foot with my fact finding..but ahem... Somewhere in March always in conjunction with Labour Day, Melbourne will have a big carnival celebration called the Moomba Festival. There will be food, carnival, sports performance, flower parade. It's a 3 day celebration and we didn't go on the Flower Parade Day but we went to the iconic Moomba flower arrangement. Short of scaling a lamp post or me climbing on top Nite, we aren't able to take a very good picture of the flower arrangement.

It goes without saying, events like this will draw out the entire population of Sleepy Melbourne. Early morning already people mountain people sea. Weather's good to the point of hot. We had to bring out our umbrella which makes us quite foolish as the umbrella perception is for rain and not sunshine.

The carnival looks pretty fun but we didn't play any of the rides. I think if Moo's around we might have tried some cause she is an adventurous person. The only game I played was shooting some hole with water race and I didn't even win. I also don't quite remember if we ate anything in the carnival. Probably did given my nature, but it must have been something not very nice for me to forget it.

I was most impressed with the Wii booth and I think we stopped there the longest, because it's under a shade and it was hilarious seeing kids do the Wii dance. Naturally the most popular dance song was ........... (hint - lot's of horsey movement).

We spend the whole day strolling along the Yarra River, that's the main event ground. Some even brought their dogs. I hope one day I will have a dog too.

Next year Moomba festival will be 60 years old. It could only get more interesting!
